Things I Like: Fortnite (Zero Build)
Fortnite trolled me (they're "anti" dancing)
I think you should play Fortnite. If you've tried it out before or you've never played it, I believe it deserves you to check it out again.
If you currently play, good for you. Let me know what you think or what I should add to the items below.
If you were turned off to the game because of the building mechanic, no fear. There is a Zero Build version of the game where building is completely turned off and you can play as you otherwise would. This is what I play primarily.
Fun
I think it is really fun to play. I've been playing it on and off since it came out and it's currently the only game (maybe aside from Destiny 2) that continues to pique my interest.
Familiar Gameplay
Fortnite is a fun game to play. It's easy to get used to playing. If you've played any 3rd person game then you will easily be able to hop in and understand the controls.
Satisfying Movement Mechanics
Sprinting, sliding, leaping, somersault-landing, mantling. It has it all. It feels fun and smooth to play. Even when I'm getting donked on, the movement is still engaging.
Cool Crossovers
Darth Maul. John Cena. Peter Griffin. Michelangelo (TMNT). Alien (from Alien).
Fortnite has it all. Often times these do cost money, but they're purely aesthetic and are a fun way to play a loved character.
Regular Content Updates
I'd guess that at LEAST every 2 weeks (get it, a fortnite?) there is some sort of minor content update, and somewhat less regularly there are moderate, large, and huge updates. They're constantly changing the map, bringing back old or adding new guns. The world feels pretty "alive" and it's fun to participate in an ever-evolving story/experience.
Accessible
It's simple to pick up and play and easy to connect with people who play on other platforms. And, it's free.
Entirely Cross-Platform (Xbox, PC, Switch, Playstation, ?Phone?)
If you have a computer, a console, ?or a phone? then you can download Fortnite and play. You can play with anyone on any of these devices. You can play with them and if you have a headset then you can talk to others from
Free (and otherwise inexpensive if you do pay)
It's free. What else do I need to say?
There are things you can pay for which, admittedly, I have and do. But the Battle Pass is about the price of a movie ticket (<$10) which allows you to play to unlock a bunch of items and characters, original and from existing IPs (there's been a few Marvel-heavy seasons and a Star Wars season or two).
But the entire game you can play without paying for anything. And they offer a lot of events that give free stuff too (I can now play as Santa Snoop Dogg after this most recent Chrismas event).
Conclusion
These are only a few reasons why I think you should play. I'm going to continue playing and I hope you'll join me.
